Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord

13 January 2013

Today is the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. It was at this point that Jesus formally began His ministry, being named by God as HIS son. Please click on the link to the right for more information about this special feast.

The also marks the end of the Christmas Season and the Beginning of Ordinary Time.

Here in Louisiana, it is also the beginning of the Mardi Gras Season...which has its roots in the Traditions of the Catholic Church. Many people in this area of the world still celebrate the more Christian side of Mardi Gras. There is also a link in reference to this.

This site was primarily established to help our school families and families throughout the world observe Advent and celebrate the Christmas Season, as well as, journey through Lent and rejoice during the Easter Season.
We will take a break for Ordinary time, but we will return on Ash Wednesday for Lent and the Easter Season.

Readings of the Day:
Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7
Psalm 29
Acts 10:34-38
Luke 3:15-16, 21-22
